First and goal at B’s 8. A-1 is deflagged at B’s 4. During the dead-ball interval, substitute A-6 enters B’s team box and verbally baits B-2. B-2 retaliates by charging into and contacting A-6. Before the next snap, B-3 encroaches. All penalties are accepted.
A-6’s 10-yard unsportsmanlike foul and B-2’s 10-yard dead-ball personal foul cancel. B-3’s 5-yard encroachment cannot cancel with either 10-yard foul and is enforced separately. Because B’s goal line is only 4 yards from the enforcement spot, the encroachment penalty is half the distance to the goal. The final result is A’s ball, 2nd and goal at B’s 2. Rules 10-3-2 and 10-3-5.
