Second and 6 at A’s 34. A-1 completes a legal forward pass to A-2, who is deflagged at B’s 24. B-1 roughs A-1 during the pass. After the ball is dead but before the ready-for-play, A-2 taunts B-1. Both penalties are accepted.
Because the pass was complete, the run ended beyond A’s scrimmage line, and there was no change of possession, enforce roughing the passer 10 yards from the dead-ball spot, B’s 24, to B’s 14, with an automatic 1st down. Then enforce A-2’s 10-yard dead-ball unsportsmanlike penalty from B’s 14 back to B’s 24. Since the dead-ball foul occurred before the ready-for-play, establish the new zone line-to-gain after both enforcements. The final result is A’s ball, 1st and 4 at B’s 24.
