First and 10 at B’s 30. A-1 completes a legal forward pass to A-2 at B’s 28. During A-2’s run, A-2 flag guards at B’s 27, A-3 illegally contacts B-1 at B’s 15, and A-2 crosses B’s goal line. B accepts the A foul that gives B the better result.
Both A fouls occurred during the running play and this is a multiple foul, so B may choose only one penalty. Acceptance of either A foul nullifies the touchdown. Flag guarding is enforced 10 yards from B’s 27 to B’s 37, producing 2nd and 17. Illegal contact is enforced 10 yards from B’s 15 to B’s 25, producing 2nd and 5. B will choose flag guarding. The final result is A’s ball, 2nd and 17 at B’s 37. Rules 10-3-8, 10-3-11A, and 10-2-2A.
